Several Loggers stepped up in a big way during Puget Sound?s 2019 outdoor track & field season.

Nearly 90 Puget Sound student-athletes received their undergraduate diplomas during the university s 127th commencement in Baker Stadium Sunday afternoon. More than 3,000 people were attendance during the warm and sunny event.

Puget Sound s Most Outstanding Student-Athletes of the 2018-19 year were honored by the Tacoma Athletic Commission at Tower Lanes Thursday afternoon.

Isaac Fournier set a personal record during the West Coast Invitational hosted by Willamette Saturday evening.

Puget Sound Athletics finished fourth for the 2018-19 Northwest Conference McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy, rounding out the academic year with 198 points. The Loggers matched Whitman in the standings, and Whitworth led the NWC with 268 points.

Long-time Puget Sound cross country and track & field head coach Mike Orechia announced his resignation to pursue other professional opportunities. Orechia will remain with the Loggers through the conclusion of the 2019 track & field outdoor season.

The Northwest Conference Track & Field Championships are a short drive away in Parkland, Washington, where several Loggers are poised to claim All-NWC status. Pacific Lutheran hosts the championships, April 26-27.

Puget Sound freshman runner Colin Monaghan won the Northwest Conference title in the mean 10,000-m run during the first day of the NWC Championships Friday. Pacific Lutheran is hosting the two-day event.
